Hallmarking

What is Hallmarking?
Hallmarking is a legal requirement in the UK for items made from precious metals (silver, palladium, gold and platinum) over a certain weight.
A hallmark is YOUR guarantee that the precious metal that you are buying is the correct fineness as it is tested by the assay office before hallmarking.
Metals over the following weight must be hallmarked:
Gold: 1.0 grams
Silver: 7.78 grams
Platinum: 0.5 grams
Palladium: 1.0 grams
All the jewellery that I make that exceeds the above weights are hallmarked by the Edinburgh Assay Office.
Anything below the above weights is not usually hallmarked. If you purchase something from me and you would like it hallmarked, please get in touch to discuss timescales and pricing.
